The “Fight Doc” as he is affectionately called by his patients, is a board certified physical therapist in Jersey City and West New York with over ten years of clinical experience. He was a full scholar at Seton Hall University majoring in biology, pre-medicine and pre-physical therapy. He later graduated as part of the first doctorate class in physical therapy at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, now Rutgers Medical School.

A professional boxer, Golden Gloves, Martial Arts and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion by trade, Josef realized that his true calling is in helping others.

He is certified in Ergonomics, Employment Testing, Functional Capacity Evaluations and specializes in Industrial and Occupational Rehabilitation. He is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine, certified by the International Weightlifting Association as a strength trainer for senior citizens, and has studied orthopedic rehabilitation at the some of the best teaching institutions in the area.

Having lived in Asia to train in the martial arts, Josef has combined his knowledge and first-hand experience in both Eastern and Western philosophies to create a more well-rounded approach to injury care. Having undergone training at various institutions, he is the first physical therapist in Jersey City to incorporate the art of neuromuscular and trigger point dry needling. He is also the first clinician in Jersey City to study under the Neurac Institute and the first person in to utilize Red Cord Neuromuscular Activation in Jersey City.

Jenina Villasin, PT

Jenina Villasin, PT has been a practicing physical therapist for almost 20 years. She is a former clinical instructor for the prestigious De La Salle University in the Philippines, where she graduated with honors.

Jenina’s primary concentration has been on sports medicine and post-operative orthopedic physical therapy. She has achieved Level 3 certification in the Kenisio Taping Method, a neuromuscular technique often used in professional and Olympic athletes. Jenina has extensive training in work related injuries, manual therapy techniques, arthroscopic repairs and total joint replacements. She is also a student of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy (OMT).

Prior to joining A Better Life as the Director of Rehabilitation, she spent a dozen years treating high school, college and professional athletes at a renowned orthopedic clinic.

Jenina spends her free time as a soccer mom and physical therapist for her daughters’ soccer league, the Copa Futbol Club. She and her husband are among the team’s loudest cheerleaders.
